Founded in 1965, as a cooperative venture amongst 5 producers located in 3 towns, blending a range of spirits each produces under the brand banner of Amami.  Produced using sugar cane indigenous to the Amami Islands and black koji, the spirit undergoes atmospheric distillation and chill filtration.   

奄美酒類は、昭和４０年に設立された奄美群島初の共同瓶詰め会社です。現在、３町にある５つの蔵元の原酒をブレンド・貯蔵し、代表銘柄「奄美」のほかさまざまな銘柄を出荷しております。当社の酒質は、常圧蒸留にこだわり、米麹の割合を抑えて黒糖の比率を高めています。そして冷却濾過。キレのよいすっきりした味わいを追求しております。また黒糖焼酎造りの原点である黒麹仕込みにも力を入れて、他社との差別化を図っています。
